Kaeng Kra Charn

  • Kaeng Krachan is a superb park for trekkers and a paradise for birders. The park is situated 200 kilometers southwest of Bangkok and takes in almost an area of 300 square kilometers. It contains a wide range of lush tropical broad-leaved evergreen forests that spread from foothills to elevated top of over 1,000 meters.

  • The park is home of more than 400 bird species including 6 hornbill species. Many northern monthane birds are also recorded here.

          Attractive bird includes:

  • Rufous-bellied Eagle, Mountain Hawk-Eagle, Jerdon's Baza, Besra, Oriental Hobby, Wreath Hornbill, Crested Jay, Silver-breasted Broadbill, Dusky Broadbill, Banded Broadbill, Black-and-Yellow Broadbill, Yellow-vented Pigeon, Chestnut-breasted Malkoha, Great Barbet, White-throated Laughingthrush, White-hooded Babbler, Black-thighed Falconet, Brown Fish Owl, Grey Peacock-Pheasant, Great Slaty Woodpecker, Bay Woodpecker, Rufous Wookpecker, Crimson-winged Woodpecker, Grey Treepie, Large Scimitar-Babbler, Coral-billed Scimitar-Babbler, Blue Pitta, Yellow-bellied Warbler, etc.
